Placement Tests
Placement Tests provided below offer a simple, effective means for evaluating individual student readiness. They are designed to assist teachers/parents with student placement whenever there is a question regarding the appropriate entry point into the curriculum.

Step 1: Preliminary placement
Choose a test to administer based on either your preliminary evaluation of the student's readiness level, or the student's current grade level (A = 1st, B = 2nd, etc.). Print a copy for use in the testing process.

Step 2: Administer the test
Give the student a sheet of paper and a pencil. Begin the test by saying: ?Number your paper from one to twenty. I will say the word once, use the word in a sentence, then say the word again. Write the word beside the correct number on your paper.? Next, read the sentences aloud from the test master. Be sure to allow ample time between sentences, and carefully monitor progress.

Step 3: Evaluate the test
Use the key following each test to determine correct placement for the student. This key contains detailed instructions on how to proceed.
